Climate-Smart Livelihood Development

Climate-Smart Livelihood Development

Resilient livelihoods are central to climate justice.

This initiative area supports climate-affected households in building sustainable income opportunities through eco-friendly agriculture, green entrepreneurship and locally appropriate climate-smart practices. The approach connects household stability with lower environmental impact and stronger capacity to cope with climate shocks.

Turning Climate Risk into Livelihood Opportunity

Communities facing salinity, floods, storms, changing rainfall and ecosystem loss often experience repeated pressure on farming, fisheries and household income. The CliMates works to connect local knowledge, sustainable production methods, youth leadership and practical innovation so vulnerable groups can pursue safer and more diversified livelihoods.

  • Promote eco-friendly and climate-adaptive agricultural practices

  • Encourage green entrepreneurship and small local enterprises

  • Support youth and women in livelihood planning and leadership

  • Connect renewable-energy options with productive household use

  • Share practical knowledge for risk reduction and adaptation

  • Strengthen community participation in local climate solutions

Ruben Sarker Lany

Climate-vulnerable communities need strong platforms, practical opportunities and the freedom to lead resilient lives with dignity.
