Climate change affects household income through floods, salinity, storms, changing rainfall and ecosystem loss. Families often need more than one source of income to remain secure when one livelihood is disrupted.
Climate-smart livelihood planning connects local knowledge, environmentally responsible production, green entrepreneurship and inclusive leadership so communities can build safer and more diversified opportunities.
A resilient livelihood approach should respond to local environmental conditions while protecting natural resources. Community members, especially young people and women, should be involved in identifying risks, choosing practical options and sharing lessons.
