The CliMates is a youth-led, visionary development organization founded by passionate changemakers from both the southern and northern regions of Bangladesh.
- The organization emerged from a shared realization that while many efforts in Bangladesh focus on poverty reduction, one of the deepest-rooted causes—climate change and its devastating impact on coastal communities—remains inadequately addressed.
- Coastal populations, despite contributing little to global emissions, are among the hardest hit by rising sea levels, salinity intrusion, floods and extreme weather events. Yet, their resilience and innovation continue to inspire hope as they adapt to natural adversities, preserve local ecosystems and strive to build sustainable livelihoods.
- To champion their voices and strengthen their resilience, The CliMates was formed—not merely as an organization but as an umbrella platform for climate-affected people and like-minded groups working towards a more sustainable, climate-resilient future. The CliMates cultivate collaboration, knowledge-sharing and community empowerment to address climate challenges through inclusive and sustainable solutions.
